Having read several of Steve CM’s responses, I am inclined to believe that his intention in writing is to support the previous regime and find fault with the armed forces for a military intervention that was, in fact, necessary at the time.
The generals stepped in to bring law and order to a chaotic situation and to protect the lives of innocent citizens who were being slaughtered while those in power turned a blind eye. Steve conveniently chooses not to respond to this issue. Nor does he respond to the fact that massive corruption, including the rice fiasco, took place under the previous government. He makes no mention of the underlying reasons why the military intervention was necessary.
Instead he continues to support a lame horse that might drop dead at any time as more and more cases of corruption are being unearthed and the guilty are sentenced.
It is apparent he is affiliated, one way or another, with those in power prior to the coup, which explains his reaction to the opinions expressed by those who are supportive of Prime Minister Prayut and his team.
The fact is that we now have peace in the country and people can live without fear. More than 80 per cent of the populace is supportive of the Prayut regime, according to polls. Does this not indicate the will of the majority? Whether the armed forces were justified or not in taking power is surely none of your business. Let Thais decide that.
