I agree with your editorial that, in Thai gutter politics, it takes a scam artist to know a scam artist, and no two scam artists know each other better than Thaksin Shinawatra and Suthep Thaugsuban.
Suthep doesn’t seem to realise that he has broken the promise he gave before the 2014 coup – that he would never get involved in politics again – by sticking his nose in politics once more last week.
Another point is that the reason people supported him before the coup was because of his call for “reform before election” campaign. He insisted there could be no election before reform happened.
Now, conversely, he is pushing for a “yes” vote in the referendum so that an election can happen right away – totally disregarding the “reform first” promise he gave us.
What a forgetful person he is. In the final analysis, Suthep should know by now that he is part of Thailand’s political problem, not a solution.
