Flit like a butterfly

ITALIAN jewellery brand MiSiS recently landed in Bangkok and celebrated the simultaneous openings of outlets at luxury shopping malls The Emporium, Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery with a launch party at Oriental Residence to introduce four collections on the themes earth, water, air and fire.

The launch event was hosted by Dr. Thitiporn Sanguanpiyabhan, president of Sette Peccati Ltd and attended by the brand’s creative designer Claudia Piaserico, daughter of the founders, as well as celebrities Jariyadee Spencer, Kornkanok Yongsakul, Jirawan Techaruevichit, Ornchuma and Chutima Duronkdej, Natthapree Pichaironarongsongkram and Chompunuch Rojsirirat.

Set up by husband and wife team Bruno and Maria Ester Piaserico in 1986, the family-run miSiS is based in Vicenza, which is considered a world centre for jewellery. Silver and gold form the settings for semi-precious and precious stones, with each item hand-fashioned by master craftsmen into a variety of styles and formats from geometric shapes to delicate natural patterns. 

“The brand’s distinctive designs take their inspiration from nature as well as the beautiful things I have seen on my journeys around the world,” Piaserico explains.

“For example, my father loved to take photos of the beach and sea on vacation and that led me to design a collection inspired by the crabs he photographed. Fun ideas are key to my work and while some of our pieces are romantic, others have a definite sense of humour.”

For her latest collection, Piaserico has turned to the elements and come up with three distinctive series named Impero – Gemina, A la playa – Marisol, and Cartoline dall italia – Volterra. Water is represented through Cartoline dall italia – Positano and Reef Party. 

These are inspired by the historic Tuscan hills and the beach resort of Positano where the cobalt blue of the sky and sea contrast with the white beach and the old houses. Gold plated silver crabs, enamel and baroque freshwater pearls and red coral combine to create a dynamic and glamorous ensemble.

Wind is made up of Brasil – Jungle Tiara, Wunderkammer – Mirabili and, Metamorphosis – Nike and fire features Wunderkammer – Artificialia, Circus – Bon Ton, and Noblesse Oblige – Nefertiti.

Piaserico is particularly proud of Nike, which features jewellery in the shape of a butterfly and which is inspired by Nike, the goddess of victory. 

The design team identifies Nike’s beauty and might as a butterfly flying in a beautiful garden. Made from sterling silver gilded in gold and enhanced with black onyx. white cubic zirconia plus red and green enamel, the series consists of a ring, a necklace, a bracelet, and a brooch.

Thitiporn says she decided to |bring miSiS to Thailand simply because there was nothing like it on the local |market. 

“The variety of the materials and the fine craftsmanship enhance the charm of this costume jewellery and increases its value. Moreover, miSiS offers several design concepts that go perfectly with the Thai personality,” she says.

The Nike collection is now available at miSiS on the first floor of the Emporium, Her Lab Zone on the ground floor of Siam Discovery, and the Sette boutique at Siam Paragon.
