Bangkok, Thailand, October 14, 2016 – AVC President Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser has expressed condolences on the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and joined the Thai people from all walks of life in grieving the loss of the world’s longest-reigning monarch.
In his condolence message, Dr Saleh said, “On behalf of the Asian Volleyball Confederation and the entire Asian volleyball families, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who became the pillar and soul of the Kingdom of Thailand in his lifetime.
“Words can’t express how saddened I am to hear of the Thailand’s loss. The grief of millions of Thai people reverberated as the Land of Smiles is filled with tears following the news that His Majesty had died. I can’t imagine the sadness the Thai people, our volleyball fraternity, must be feeling from the loss of the revered King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Thailand is still mourning the passing of His Majesty and my thoughts are with his countless well-wishers and family as well as Thai people.”
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, a world leader who was close to the people and brought peace, unity and prosperity for the people of Thailand during his 70 years on the throne, died at 3.52pm local time on Thursday at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok at the age of 89, according to the Royal Household Bureau.
