Top Thai players for Boonchu’s golf tourney

The creme de la creme of Thai golf will take part in the All Thailand Tour's season ending Boonchu Ruangkit Championship, which starts this Thursday at the Rancho Charnvee Resort and Country Club in Nakhon Ratchasima.

Top players such as Thongchai Jaidee, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, No 3 Prayad Marksaeng and youngsters Pavit Tangkamolprasert, Phachara Kongwatmai and the newly crowned Singha Championship winner, Thanyakorn Khrongpha, will say farewell to the year in the Bt3.5 milฌlion event, which is an annual get together of pro golfers in Thailand.
“Not only we organise the tournament for young players to develop their skills, but also to allow golfers and their families to celebrate together after a long year,” said Boonchu, one of the first Thai golfers who succeeded as a professional.


The former Asian No 2 in 1995 said that Thai golf has come a long way and predicted that the Thai women will emerge as global stars next year.
“With the success of May [Ariya Jutanugarn], I expect more women golfers to join the LPGA Tour next year. The men’s game has become more competitive nevertheless on can supฌport one’s family by continuing in the profession. Practice every week, keep your body fit to pursue a career in golf,” Boonchu said.
Thai No 1 Thongchai, playing his last event of the year, said he had decided to enter the event to help increase the value of the tournament in terms of world rankings.
“With the presence of top players, more world ranking points will be added to this tournament. This will benefit the young players as they can improve their rankings if they win,” said the eighttime European Tour winner.
Also the tournament will decide either Udorn Duangdecha or Chapchai Nirat, currently No 1 and 2, will end up as the No 1 player on the All Thailand Tour’s 2016 Order of Merit rankings.
