Simon Ordsall’s evisceration of JC Wilcox doesn’t make pretty reading. Nor is it particularly sophisticated, for that
matter.
I, too, despair when people continue crowing about Brexit, which as many of us know occurred at least in part as a result of cynical “opinion forming” (a euphemism for a type of brain washing) funded, according to the respected British Oxford-educated investigative journalist Carole Caddwaladr, by the secretive right-wing American billionaire Robert Mercer; a British “data modelling and psychographic profiling” company, Cambridge Analytica; and Steve Bannon who, besides being an adviser to Trump, is a member of the far-right Breitbart organisation, and so it goes on.
I agree with Ordsall that Wilcox protests too much about so-called traitors, who are nothing of the kind. Especially when they are still resident in the UK. It’s always easy to sit in judgement with the benefit of (skewed) hindsight.
What Ordsall needs to understand though is that it’s not a crime to love your country, and I assume he, too, lives in Thailand now and not the UK if that’s where he’s really from, and that Wilcox has a right to offer his thoughts here, as do we all. Add to that, if we put our heads above the parapet, we should expect to receive pot-shots every now and again.
