Five years for mushroom pickers, a free ride for ‘Boss’

The Nation is running two stories about how justice works in Thailand.

In a magnanimous display of clemency, leniency, mercy, compassion, understanding and forgiveness, the Supreme Court has reduced the prison sentence of mushroom pickers Udom Sirisorn and his wife Daeng from 20 years to five years.
At the same time, the justice system also extends clemency, leniency, mercy, compassion, understanding and forgiveness to the Red Bull heir Yorayuth Yoovidhya by allowing two of the charges against him to expire, by not conducting the initial police investigation in a timely manner, by not cancelling his passport, and by allowing him to flee Thailand just two days before he was due (yet again) to appear before police to answer the more serious charges against him.
So there is some equality in the Thai justice after all. Not!
