MARIMEKKO in its pre-Autumn collection celebrates Finnish creativity and the cultural heritage that serves as the firm’s foundation.
Getting back to its roots, the design house continues to honour its 100-year-old homeland’s uniqueness and bold visual culture.
With a “Design for life” theme, creative director Anna Teurnell and her team take inspiration from Finnish art, architecture, folklore and the mysticism of the national epic “Kalevala” to show how nature influences every aspect of the culture.

“I find Finnish female art very inspiring and versatile,” says Teurnell.
“I especially like their work and creativity and their storytelling in figurative and abstract art. Their more reduced and sublime expression has been very inspiring to me. Like our design team and I, they were influenced by this interesting and mystical country, its national epic and its craftsmanship.”
