Double bill from South Korea and India

The free movie screenings at the River City Club come to an end this weekend with movies from South Korea and India.

Showing on Saturday is the Korean film “Animal Town”, directed by Jeon Kyuhwan. Part of the filmmaker’s “The Town Trilogy”, which also features “Mozart Town” and “Dance Town”, the film deals with the isolation of individuals living in big towns.

“Animal Town” centres on convicted paedophile Oh Sung-Chul (Lee Joon-Hyuk) who has been released on parole and wears an ankle bracelet that monitors his movements. He works hard and to stay cool and calm but still feels disturbed when seeing a little girl on the street. Kim Hyung-Do (Oh Sung-Tae) is a religious family man who runs a printing company. The printing business is going through hard times and Kim Hyung-Do is also going through heavy emotional turmoil due to a horrendous crime inflicted upon his daughter by Oh Sung-Chul. One day, he spots Sung-chul out on the street and starts stalking him,

After screening, a variety of Korean barbecue dishes and Soju liquor will be served courtesy of the vibrant Banjoo BBQ Korean restaurant, on Sukhumvit Soi 20.

The project will close on Sunday with the Indian film “Queen” about a young bride Rani (Kangana Raut) who decides to go on her European honeymoon on her own after her fiance calls their marriage off. It is a journey of self-discovery and self-growth and she returns a changed person. That’s when her fiance re-enters her life.

The closing film is supported by the Rang Mahal restaurant of Rembrandt Hotel, who will provide a variety of delectable Indian snacks.

Both films start at 4pm in Room 232 of River City. Limited seats are available. Make a reservation at [email protected], or call (02) 237 0077-8 extension 622.
