The run of Ratchanok Intanon in the Tahoe China Open came to an end on Saturday as she went down to Japanese old foe Akane Yamaguchi 14-21 18-21 in the semi-finals in Fuzhou.

In less than 24 hours after her stunning win over world No 1 Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan on Friday, Ratchanok failed to maintain her top form as allowed a string of unforced errors come out of her racquet in the match which last 42 minutes.

The world No 4 Akane successfully settled score with the sixth ranked Thai as she just lost the final of the Danisa Denmark Open in three games. Ratchanok came from 16-19 in the final game to win that match 14-21 21-15 21-19 for her first Super Series Premier title in 12 months.

Ratchanok has trailed Yamaguchi 7-9 in their head-to-head records.
