Thai talent takes on J-League

Thai talent takes on J-League

Re: “Theerathon set for J-League stint”, (Sports, January 26)

It is good news that Theerathon Bunmathan (left back of the Thai national team under SCG Muangthong United) will move to play football with Vissel Kobe in the J-League (the top division of Japanese Professional Football League) on a one-year loan.
Teerasil Dangda (striker of Thai national team under SCG Muangthong United) also started playing football with J-League team Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the 2018 season on a one-year loan, and Chanathip Songkrasin (midfielder of the Thai national team under SCG Muangthong United) has already played with Consadole Sapporo of J-League since the second leg of the 2017 season on a one-and-half-year loan. These three big deals provide a significant model for other Thai soccer talent. The J-League will help them develop themselves with higher qualities.
If they adjust and practise hard enough, they will make the starting line-ups of their teams. Then they will have the chance to become top-class players and raise through the ranks in their teams. It will also allow them to discover from real experience why Japan is a leading team in Asia and, consequently, one of the 32 competing countries in the Fifa World Cup tournament.
For children and teenagers, this is very good role modelling to increase their passion for playing football. Also, it will pave the way for other footballers to play in the higher-quality international leagues. This will improve their pace and, in turn, lift Thailand’s football standards both in terms of the clubs and the national team.
