Asia is in such a sorry state that, as a man brought up in a decent functioning social democracy, I fear for the future.
Whether in Hanoi, Hong Kong, Phnom Penh or Bangkok, the following words of Agnes Chow, a 21-year-old activist with a desire for a voice should give us great cause for concern. “In the future, I worry, anyone who opposes any government policy will be twisted into enemies of the state.”
It’s a prediction already coming true.
