Thai conflict has hallmarks of Islamic insurgency

Anybody who says the restive South of Thailand does not bear the hallmarks of an Islamic insurgency does not know what he is talking about. While they have used territory as a propaganda tool, this is in reality an Islamic insurgency through and through.
Lungstib points fingers at the Thai military. What he fails to explain is why so many schoolteachers have been murdered in the South in cold blood. Are teachers part and parcel of the Thai military?
There are many other marginalised communities around the world that don’t murder fellow Muslims, don’t murder civilians, don’t murder government officials, and don’t murder police and army personnel.
It is easy to point fingers at the Thai military from the comfort of your own living room. It is an entirely different matter when you are in the thick of things, never knowing when it is your turn to face a bullet.
