They will next play the fourth-seeded pair of Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota of Japan in the quarter-finals. They beat the Japanese duo 23-21 21-12 in the 2017 Hong Kong Open which was their only win from four meets.
In women's singles second round, Nitchaon Jindapol went down to fourth-seeded Sindhu V. Pursarla 21-13 13-21 21-18 while Busanan Ongbamrungphan lost to world No 1 Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan 15-21 11-21.
Thai No 1 Khosit Phetpradab was eliminated from the men's singles event, losing to 2016 Olympic Games gold medalist Chen Long of China 18-21 14-21.
