The Thai Film Festival in Latin America 2026 has opened at Espaço Petrobras de Cinema in São Paulo, Brazil, showcasing nine Thai productions to audiences in Latin America.
The festival is organised by Hollywood (Thailand) Co Ltd and the National Federation of Motion Pictures and Contents Associations, with support from the Department of Cultural Promotion under Thailand’s Ministry of Culture and the Royal Thai Embassy in Brasília.
The opening attracted Brazilian media representatives and film fans, who gathered for the red-carpet appearances of Thai filmmakers and actors.
Among the guests were Puwadon Naosopa, director of The Cursed Mask, and the film’s two leading actors, Panuwat Sopradit and Mondop Heamtan.
The festival programme features nine Thai films across a range of genres, including drama, thriller, arthouse cinema and stories reflecting social and LGBTQ+ diversity.
Alongside The Cursed Mask, the line-up comprises Regretfully at Dawn, Solids by the Seashore, Wrecked, The Stain, Gohan: Go Home, Morte Cucina, Heals and The Influencer.
The films received a strong response from Brazilian audiences and media, with viewers also taking part in informal question-and-answer sessions with the Thai guests following the screenings.
Wasan Homsangpradit, chief executive officer of Hollywood (Thailand), said the festival represented more than international recognition for Thai creative work, describing it as an investment in the future of the country’s entertainment industry.
He said the company aimed to serve as a bridge connecting Thai films and other entertainment content with international markets.
The positive response in Brazil was only the first step in Hollywood (Thailand)’s broader strategy to support the sustainable growth of Thai entertainment overseas, he added.
The company plans to pursue international film co-productions, expand Thai content onto additional global platforms and create more opportunities for emerging Thai performers, producers and other industry professionals to present their work at international film festivals.
Hollywood (Thailand) said further projects intended to expand the global reach of Thailand’s entertainment industry would be announced in the near future.
