Of all the freebies that the Pheu Thai government has bestowed on us, the first-car incentive is the most unfathomable and unjustifiable scheme. Per your estimation, the incentive would cost our country Bt150 billion, not to mention the waste of petrol and more time wasting in the traffic in future.
The cost is huge when compared with the cost of the one-tablet-per-child scheme of Bt5 billion. With proper management, the net benefit of the tablet scheme by far exceeds the car scheme in terms of money well spent and preservation of the environment.
