What can you do but laugh?

There have been several contributions to the issue "Go home if you don't like it here".

I think it was Meechai Burapa who started this rather nonsensical topic (“Why do you live here and complain so much?” Letters, November 6). Compared to his depressing letters, it is always a joy to read the Beasleys’ contributions (“If you’re dry, you’re not wet,” November 3). What can you do but laugh when a government flood information office – when asked when the flood will reach you – replies that you are still on dry ground and then hangs up?
Since his beloved party won a landslide election victory, Khun Meechai should be a happy man. Never mind that they are discussing now – in November – plans for buying more pumps after the floods have been with us since August. After all, they never promised that they were able to deal with emergencies. Their manifesto was about bringing Thaksin back, and they are getting close to achieving it. So cheer up Khun Meechai. Laughing is good for your health.
