What makes the good keep going

What do Robert Amsterdam and Chalerm Yoobamrung have in common?

Can’t think of anything beside the fact that they’re both lawyers? Well, on reflection I’ve come up with a few amusing parallels.
So they both tie their ties in the same way, I’ve noticed that, and their eyes are riveting, brimstone and fire, a comic might call it, reminding us all that neither of them has ever compromised on a principle when it comes to the law. Indeed, everything the two of them stand for is legal, or at least becomes legal in due course in the sense that in the eyes of the law an acquittal is as legal as any amount of innocence before. And then there’s the way they both come to the rescue of those who have been wronged by the law, convicted and, yes, sometimes even jailed, just because they were rich and powerful, like so many of the best innocents of the world.
That’s a real service, freeing all that good money from jail so that it can be used to lift the poor up out of their misery, free the slaves from the sweatshops, the miserable miners from their sweaty mines and the flooded rice-farmers from the swamps of our airports.
That’s probably their biggest similarity, beside the fact they know the law so well, of course, and abide by it. They dare to publicise the way the elites of the world pull all the strings. Yes, they dare to hold up that hoary, hush-hush spade and shout, “It’s a spade! It’s a spade” at the top of their lungs. And of course they get all that hot news covered in the best journals, which means that the good can really get going!
