No big deal for Pheu Thai

Re: "Pheu Thai can be beaten", Letter, April 25.

If I were a Pheu Thai supporter I wouldn’t worry about being “slapped in the face” (as the writer put it) in Pathum Thani’s by-election. I wouldn’t even lose sleep if the party loses again in Chiang Mai’s by-election. I think Pheu Thai supporters are hinting that they are not happy with PM Yingluck’s plan to pay homage to the “phu yai” on April 26, and they protested by not going to the poll, as indicated by only a 30 per cent turnout, compared to 75 per cent eight months ago.
After all, what is up for grabs in by-elections? Only a seat or two in Parliament, which means nothing. What really counts is the general election, in which the PM’s office is the ultimate trophy. So it’s not yet time for the Democrats to crow, puff out their chest and flap their wings.
