The writer was off target when he claimed that the Pheu Thai Party’s Sunday by-election loss stemmed from its red-shirt supporters’ dissatisfaction with PM Yingluck’s plan to pay homage to the country’s phu yai. Prime Minister Yingluck has twice met with the said “phu yai” before and there wasn’t any sign of dissatisfaction from the group.
Usually, the main reason for any shift of support for the ruling party comes from dissatisfaction at its performance. And the reason for an abnormally lower voter turnout is because they are fed up with politics and politicians.
