But it’s important to understand that so called “minor” issues such as gay marriage, abortion or animal rights, an issue I feel strongly about, are close to the hearts of many voters. As American citizens we have every right to vote for candidates whose views are in line with our religious or moral philosophy. In fact, I believe it is more noble to vote for a candidate for moral reasons as opposed to voting for who I think will best serve my own personal financial interests. As an idealist I usually don’t ask myself “what’s in it for me?”, before deciding who to vote for.
Every four years we go through the same nonsense. The two major parties in America will blame each other for America’s disastrous economic and foreign policies. Yet which ever candidate wins, as soon as he gets into office it’s “business as usual” and nothing changes. So as long as it doesn’t make much difference who wins anyway, why shouldn’t I vote for the candidate who at least stands up for some moral cause I believe in? Is there any better reason to vote for either of those two clowns?
