PTT launches its second comic contest on the theme 'Plastic Story'

The Petroleum Authority of Thailand is moving forward with the second year of its comic contest under the concept “Plastic Story”.
This year’s competition is part of a campaign to raise awareness about plastic, a wide range of mouldable synthetic and semi-synthetic organic solids commonly derived from petrochemicals, the benefits of plastics, and the destruction of plastic products. The three best ways to get rid of plastic are reduce, reuse and recycle, as plastic takes hundred years to go through the process of decomposition.
Putthachad Mukdaprakorn, executive vice president of PTT’s corporate communications and social responsibility, Dr Teerachai Pornsinsirirak, vice president of PTT’s research and technology institute, and Changnoi Kulchorn Na Ayutaya, account director of a day magazine, recently launched the contest with a attended a press conference of the contest at Terminal 21.
Up on stage discussing the art of cartoons were cartoonists Songsin Tiewsomboon, Suttichart Sarapaivanich and Wisut Pornimit, the man behind the popular “Hesheit” and “The Duang” strips in a day. The highlight of the event was Wisut drawing a cartoon while Believe Records’ singer Pango performed.
The contest is divided into two categories: high school students aged between 13 and 18 and the public aged 18 and older. A comic strip on the theme “Plastic Story” must be submitted before August 20.
