TAT should investigate butchery in Pattaya

Re: "Pattaya city destroys the environment", Letters, September 6.

Eric Bahrt had every reason to shed a tear when he saw the results of the Pattaya authority’s actions in butchering the beautiful shade trees on Beach Road. There are virtually no areas of natural beauty in the concrete jungle that is Pattaya, and the mayor should be ashamed of what he permitted the ill-advised tree pruners to do to those beautiful mature trees that offered shade to beachfront walkers. If the TAT put photographs of the ugly remnants of these trees on their TV commercials, it would forever discourage many from visiting the city. Unfortunately TV commercials for tourism are not intended to show the real nature of the country but merely to attract money from tourists.
