The two-day race, organised by X-Biking Chiang Mai, features some of the world’s best riders, highlighted by downhill specialist Peat, who has 17 World Cup titles, one World Championship and nine British Championship titles under his belt. Such is his fame in mountainbiking circles that he even has a video game named after him.
Also joining the event is New Zealander Brook Macdonald, who this year clinched his first World Cup win, in Val d’Isere, France.
Downhill racing is an exhilarating spectator sport, and, with a large number of the world’s best travelling to Chiang Mai, this weekend promises to be a milestone for the sport in Thailand. Big names are also expected from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Nepal.
The event is supported by TAT, the Sports Authority of Thailand, Flight of the Gibbon, Deuter, Contour, Toyota, and Baan Sahakorn. For more information visit
