Last week, UD Town, Thailand’s biggest open-air mall, kicked off the festive fun with the “Dazzle of Happiness” event that saw the official lighting up of UD Town’s Christmas Tree that stands 12 metres tall, adorned with a poly mirror, thousands of LED bulbs and jingling bells.
The surrounding lanes have also revamped to fit the festive vibe with lots of lights and decorations that can easily make you think you’re walking in London’s Bond Street.
The launch event grabbed the attention of the whole town. Families, townspeople as well as Udon Thani’s social elite gathered around Isaan’s tallest Christmas tree to enjoy a series of dance performances and religious songs from the town’s Christian group.
Thai superstar, actress Araya “Chompoo” A Hargate also made an appearance as Dazzling Queen on a men-drawn sleigh to breathe life into the festive joy.

From December 22 till 31, you’ll enjoy festive thrills at Paris’ Arc de Triomphe, London’s Big Ben and tram, Moscow’s St Basil's Cathedral and Tokyo’s Sensoji Temple as well as Moulin Rouge-inspired performances.
Throughout the month, Thai artists like Pong from The Sun, Pe from Hi Rock, Slot Machine, Silly Fool, Calorie Blah Blah, Ben Chalatit and many others will take turn performing at UD Beer Park. On December 31, countdown to 2013 at The Road – the mall’s main area – with AB Normal, Thaitanium and Blackhead. Shoppers also enjoy up to 85- per-cent discounts, reward programmes and gifts until the New Year.
