Charms for the charming

The jewellery collections at the Little Pink Rabbit are cute as a bunny

Supornthip “Tippy” Choungrangsee has been designing terrific enamelled jewellery in 92.5-carat silver and precious stones at her shop, Tippy Tippy, since 2005.

Playful, sweet and refined, they bring colour and shimmer to any outfit, so the feedback was outstanding, prompting Tippy to launch a sister brand, The Little Pink Rabbit, aimed at the younger crowd.
She opened the shop last week on the third floor of Siam Center. Its eight square metres are fitted out with glistening window displays, the white walls a-skitter with cute painted rabbits. The small space is jammed with earrings, bangles, rings, necklaces, bracelets and charms.
Tippy’s creations have always been unique thanks to her imagination and enamelling technique, and lately she has utilised alloys and Swarovski crystals as her main materials, the better to mould characters that will appeal to younger buyers.
“Everything is made with 92.5 silver and adorned with precious stones, so it’s expensive,” says Panya Jitmanasakd, who’s in charge of marketing. “The Little Pink Rabbit accessories are more playful and trendy, for people who love decorating their accessories with charms and coming up with their own ideas to match their lifestyle.”
Well-known artists, designers and celebrities have brought their concepts to the Rabbit as well.
Illustrator Wisut Ponnimit’s Mamuang Collection tells the story of cute little Mamuang, her dog Maphroa and Uncle Lin. Veteran artist ML Chiratorn Chirapravati’s Little Bow Tie suite of bracelets and charms are shaped like squirrels, koalas, pigs and birds. Event organiser Sombasara Theerasaroj’s Love Not War smart charms come in camouflage and as grenades, hearts, guns and bullets.
Young artist Pattreeda “Paeng” Prasarnthong brings out her femininity in the Teatime selection of tiny teapots and cups in vivid hues decorated with crystals. Her younger sister Nualtong Prasarnthong’s Sea Spell jewellery takes the form of lifejackets, sailors, boats and marine creatures.
“The designers all have different personalities,” Panya points out, “so you have Sombasara focusing on fashion and modernity, while Tippy’s designs look luxurious and beautiful and Chiratorn loves simplicity.”
The Rabbit’s latest collection, by designer Chavaporn “Ploy” Laohapongchana, will be unveiled at the end of this month.
