TV steps aside, lets movie try

Like nature, politics always finds a way. Nonzee Nimitbutr has vowed to restore the sting in the tale of his “Nua Mek 2” TV series – which nervous Channel 3 yanked off the air before it was finished – with a big-screen version.
Actually, the director and the producer-stars, Chatchai and Sinjai Plengpanich, had planned a “Nua Mek 3” even before “2” died prematurely – but only as a third TV series. “We believe it’s unlikely to get on the air now, though, so we decided to turn it into a movie,” Nonzee says. “We’re adjusting the script and will offer it to Sahamongkol Film.”
He has no hard feelings about “2” getting squashed like a bug. “I’m like a shoemaker. If someone thinks he can’t sell the shoes I make, he can just throw them away – I’ve done my duty!”
Nonzee doesn’t need to ask Channel 3 for any permission – the story belongs to him – and he’s taking it about 10 years into the future with “Nua Mek 3” (or whatever it ends up titled).
“The cast will be the same and the characters that weren’t already killed off will be back. The story will certainly remain political” – about a crisis arising from a deliberate countrywide blackout, with no Internet.
No idea when the movie might hit theatres, of course. We can only hope that political reality doesn’t create a crisis like that in the meantime.

Na Nake a day
Okay, we’re done giggling about Ketsepsawat palakawong “Na Nake” Na Ayudhaya’s incredibly brief “retirement”. The ubiquitous TV host is back in kinetic action everywhere you look. But here’s something different: GMM Grammy is giving him prime time – 8 to 9pm every weekday – to do whatever he wants!
“I’ve had great ideas for shows I’d like to do but couldn’t because of various limitations. So this is a blessing – I can do what I dream,” Na Nake says.
Too many ideas, though, so he’s devoting different days to different concepts. The week begins with “I Loathe Mondays”.
