Omega's timely plea to save the sea

Omega, the wristwatch maker, has a new sales campaign called "Treasure of Planet Ocean" aimed at preserving marine life.

The recent launch involved the government’s Department of Marine and Coastal Resources in Phuket and the residents of Pa Klok in Klang district.

Omega invited celebrities to release fish into the sea off Pa Klok, clean coral and attend a workshop on underwater photography. It also premiered the documentary “Planet Ocean” by environmentalist Yann Arthus-Bertrand and producer Michael Pitiot and unveiled its latest timepiece, the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet.
David Ponzo, managing director of Swatch Group Trading, and Omega (Thailand) brand manager Busara Tantiwarathaworn welcomed the guests, who included ocean-loving celebrity couples Jiradee and Jay Spencer, Achiraya and Surachet Worawongwasu and Piyada and Sara Jutharattanakul, who shared their own experiences in helping save the sea.
The film “Planet Ocean” draws on the talents of some of the world’s leading aerial and underwater cinematographers, oceanographers and biologists. It’s designed to change the way people regard the sea and encourage them to share in its conservation and stewardship. Omega is co-sponsoring the movie’s screening next month at Earth Summit 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Guests also feasted their eyes on breathtaking shots of untouched marine nature in a photo exhibition.
The Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet is a new collection inspired by the diversity and alluring charm of the ocean’s colours. It comes in both classic stainless strap and sporty blue strap.
