Okay, okay, we believe you, Sek

Rock musician Seksan "Sek Loso" Sukpimai told reporters this week for the umpteenth time that he's kicked the drugs, and this time, amusingly enough, he had a senior cop sitting next to him

Sek also had Army Col Somsak Rittirongwattana on hand as he announced a “Rock ’n’ Roll for Thailand” charity concert, a fund-raiser for soldiers serving in the Deep South. It’s at the Tawandaeng German Brewery House on June 25.
Police Maj-General Prasobchoke Prommoon and Dr Jiroj Sutawanon of the Tanyarak Institute, Sek’s rehab of choice, were there to conduct a urine test on the singer on the spot – or at least in the nearest handy toilet – just in case anyone doubted his claim of cleanliness.
It really didn’t help. Reporters still wanted to know, if he’s so drug-free, why he smashed his guitar at a recent show, as thousands have since witnessed on YouTube. Sek said yet again that he was simply expressing himself in the tried-and-true rock-star tradition. “I didn’t kill anyone – I didn’t hit anyone over the head, okay?”
Venting your passion live onstage is one thing, someone pointed out, but he’s a role model for kids. Does Thailand need a generation that hurls guitars around? “If they do smash their guitars, I think they’ll soon regret it,” he replied. His axes cost Bt100,000 and up, and while he admitted demolishing two of his five Richie Sambora models, “It’s, like, once a decade.” The previous time was before there was any social media, “so no one took any notice of it”.
And he’s sorry he just smashed another guitar. “But it’s okay because I’m going to order a new one. I saw the video, though, and I must say the audience enjoyed it!”
Meanwhile there’s a new single as well, from the forthcoming album suitably titled “I’m Back”. “Once I get the album out, I’ll continue travelling around the country performing. And if any of the concerts are organised to be anti-drugs, I’ll play free of charge.”
