I must chide Eric Bahrt for his surprising suggestion that Russian President Vladimir Putin should swap Edward Snowden for Victor Bout. Eric is famous for his warm and humanistic mindset. Always he champions the rights of helpless animals threatened by the hungry jaws of human carnivores. Yet in this instance he would trade in human beings in the same casual way that young boys used to swap baseball cards. Whence comes this uncharacteristic streak of cruelty? Does Snowden deserve to be thrown to the ravening wolves of the CIA? He seems to be a nice young man, even though my husband Horace, whose politics are only slightly to the right of Genghis Khan, roars that he is a traitorous commie rat who ought to be castrated, disembowelled and run over by a steamroller before being buried beneath a pile of pig manure in an unmarked Guantanamo grave. One expects such a Neanderthal attitude from Horace, but not from a saintly icon like Eric. Is there no pity left in Pattaya?
