David Brown’s comments about Rayong’s beaches are perfectly correct – they’re a mess – but let’s not just look at beaches. Take a stroll through some of the back streets of Pattaya or even the beachfront promenade by the new marina, and, from the disgusting sight of garbage strewn about from overflowing bins, one would never believe this is a prime tourist area. But most tourists rarely venture far from the beaches or tourist shops, so they do not appreciate how bad it is. Just one photo should be enough to put tourists off from wanting to come to Pattaya. It is truly amazing that city council or the Tourism Authority of Thailand do not seem interested in ensuring the city is maintained in a clean and attractive state. But Amazing Thailand is living up to its name.
Away from tourist attractions in rural areas, carelessly discarded garbage is seen everywhere. Does nobody care about keeping Thailand clean?
