Some were under the influence of drink, but many were allegedly from such countries as Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Iran, and none appeared to have any previous convictions. Consequently they were released with only “a slap on the wrist”.
Have the authorities not considered the possibility that these people could be on the payroll of al-Qaeda, simply to test the resistance of the in-flight crews, to see how much trouble they can cause before they get arrested (often with the help of fellow passengers)? Then, after being released, they can report back to their terrorist movement as to how weak or strong the security was on the flight. I consider these people to be guinea pigs, gathering information for others for the real job, which is to repeat what happened on 9/11.
