We know where this ends up

Re: "War: a no-brainer for the US", Letters, August 30.

How a country that is approaching US$17 trillion in debt believes it can afford another war is a mystery to me too. But then again, Guy Baker’s observation that it’s a smokescreen to take people’s minds off of the debt is probably also correct. This reminds me of George W’s run into Iraq to take people’s minds off of his administration’s little blunder in letting terrorists destroy two very large buildings in his country.
I have no understanding of my former country any longer, or of why it insists on being the world’s policeman. The same people protesting there now were protesting previously and will be protesting subsequent to an American invasion. Their government hates us and they hate us, but now we are going to “save” them.
It is none of America’s business. Let the Arab League deal with its own problems.
