Um, excuse me, Prayuth, the amnesty is all about injustice. There are laws in Thailand, are there not? The amnesty travesty is about trashing those laws and the consequences of breaking them. Who will pull the trigger to execute you when you’re proved wrong? Perhaps we can inform Prayuth that murder is a crime. But since this is Thailand, all laws, including those against murder, are subjective – the crime a person commits is less important than the social status of the perpetrator.
Proponents are lying through their teeth when they say the amnesty bill is not about helping Thaksin. This whole thing is further proof, if any were needed, that bringing Tony Blair and others to Thailand was a sick and expensive joke. Non-red Thais weren’t fooled for a minute. The whole extravaganza was orchestrated to burnish Pheu Thai’s tarnished image. Nothing came out of it. Now look at what Pheu Thai wants to foist upon Thais, replete with civil unrest and worse. It’s not enough that Pheu Thai and the reds trashed Bangkok in 2009 and 2010. They’re back to make it happen again – with the inevitable unrest that will follow the signing of the incendiary amnesty bill.
