So the press turned out in excess expecting to squeeze more juice out of Janie. All she’d talk about was the series, though. She spoke about her co-star, Pakorn “Boy” Chatborirak, and her work plans for the near future, but she had zip to confide about Chonsawat and what happened in the past.
Gasping for gossip, reporters began wringing her for details about her state of mind and the farang who’s alleged to be her boyfriend. “He’s just a close friend,” was all Janie would offer. “As for me, I’m not fully okay yet – it will take some time.”
Janie said she’s going to concentrate on her career and that she has been approached to appear in “about” three more TV series. “I’ll start thinking about that after I’m finished with this one.
But wait! Were those tears welling up in Janie’s eyes? Is the cameraman getting this? Yes, she was getting a little weepy, but only while thanking all her fans for their support. “I’ve read every message on my Instagram,” she said. “It means a lot to me and gives me a boost. I wasn’t ready to talk then and I don’t think I’m ready yet either. Let’s let bygones be bygones. Now it’s time to ‘begin again’”.
Dopey, sleepy, bashful
Actor Patchata “Roam” Nampan had a squeaky clean public image until he showed up “high on drugs” for a recent appearance at a charity event for, of all things, the SOS Children’s Village Thailand Foundation.
While talking to the press at the event, Roam seemed doped up pretty good, so he was asked on the spot why he was acting like a junkie. Antibiotics, he said. Gee, the reporters thought, he’s pretty goofed-out for someone only taking germ medicine.
Coming to the rescue, sort of, was Roam’s manager, Pimpasorn Cheewapaksopon, who told Thai Rath that the actor had indeed lied about his condition. He was “high” all right – or actually “low” – on sleeping pills, along with other medicine he needs to take. “He slept on the way to the event and even when we got there, before it started. I was worried about him and told him he could call off the interview, but he said he could do it.”
So why was Roam taking sleeping pills anyway? Pimpasorn said he wanted a good sleep in the afternoon so he’d be fresh for the charity event, but he took two 0.25mg tablets and they whacked him out.
Is he dependent on pills? The manager said his schedule is rough, so he has difficulty sleeping. “He needs to get up at 4 or 5 in the morning and sometimes work doesn’t finish until 11pm or midnight. And this goes on seven days a week. He needs to sleep!”
At the suggestion that Roam’s image is tarnished now, Pimpasorn said she’s learned a lesson and will watch him more closely from now on. “I’ve consulted the doctor and it turns out that Roam was taking the sleeping pills so much that he’s built up a resistance.”
Some manager, people remarked on the social media, including several celebrities. “Mistakes happen,” Pimpasorn said, “but I don’t want him to worry about it. The bad publicity is my mistake and my lesson to learn.”
