Siam Sport snubs Buriram title success

The bitter row between the country's sports media giant, Siam Sport Syndicate, and the Thai Premier League's Buriram United has deepened, with the newspaper opting to completely ignore the latter's successful title defence.

While the country’s other newspapers published Buriram’s second successive league triumph, Siam Sport daily’s main headline was about Chonburi FC’s failure to win their first league title in seven years, after finishing on 76 points from 38 games, three behind in second spot.
Siam Sport’s decision not to publish the title success came after the Buriram, who matched the record of three titles held by Muangthong United – a club bankrolled by Siam Sport – announced last month that Siam Sport reporters were not welcome at their home ground, I-Mobile Stadium. Buriram president Newin Chidchob had even told Siam Sport not to cover any story about his team.
The row erupted following a headline in October 26’s Siam Sport daily which appeared to suggest that Buriram would easily beat Chainat because of the close relationship between the owners of the two clubs.
