How did military, police top brass get so rich?

I'm sure PM Prayut Chan-o-cha and many other career civil servants or military and police officers in the Cabinet and National Legislative Assembly who have become wealthy earned their income honestly, and without using inside information.
Still, I’d be most interested in finding out how they did it so that we might hold them up as role models.
Since information on their assets is public information by law, the news media should dig deeper into how the richest 20 per cent of our NLA and Cabinet members from the public sector earned their wealth. Perhaps the investigators could go back a generation or two to make sure their assets are really clean, and let us know how we, too, could follow suit.
