Going to the dogs

TWO OF THE most popular choices for festive food with a fusion twist are Greyhound Cafe and its sister restaurant Another Hound Cafe. Both restaurants are now inviting patrons to start their Christmas celebrations early with a selection of dishes on the theme “Freeze a Magic Moment”. 

The Hounds have called on the services of artist Kritsada ‘Note’ Phakawatsuntorn to create a collection of colourful life-size fibreglass figures of boys and girls in different affectionate postures to remind everyone of what the Christmas spirit is all about. 

In addition to salads and spaghetti with a holiday twist, Greyhound Cafe is offering its Traditional Turkey with stuffing, mashed potato, home-made gravy, buttered peas and cranberry sauce for a very reasonable Bt380. It’s also gone mad on the sweet treats with a range of Christmassy delights such as Snow Hill (Bt220), a layered, dried cranberry red velvet cake served with chocolate chips, white cream cheese frosting, strawberry jelly, whipped cream and tuile dolls having fun in the crushed meringue snow. 

There’s also a sinful Freeze Magic Moment Macaron (Bt210) that’s filled with home-made strawberry jam and smothered in a mixed-berry and raspberry sauce. A boxed version is also on sale for Bt240 and makes a perfect gift.

Other desserts include Young Coconut Crepe Cake, Lod Chong Panna Cotta, Pomegranate and Strawberry Sorbet and Star Fruit and Honey Sorbet. 

Greyhound has also teamed up with mineral water brand Perrier to create three mocktails: Red Riddle (Bt180) blends the sparkling mineral water with pomegranate juice and syrup, mint leaves, lime juice and salt, Double Apple (also Bt180) is made from Perrier, apple juice, green and red apples, apple syrup, lime juice and a Perrier ice ball while Mingle Mix (Bt150) combines Perrier, peach, raspberry, peach and raspberry syrups and lime juice. 

Over at Another Hound, the chefs are offering Crab Cake Salad (Bt300) with avocado and croutons and a spicy bell pepper dressing and a Thai-style ceviche of fresh crab claws and shrimps in chilli lime sauce with avocado, frisee and rocket.

Main dishes include Midnight Turkey for two (Bt850), Turkey leg confit and roasted root veggies, served with red wine sauce and tamarind sauce and Beef Cheek (Bt520) with spaghetti.
