Speed masters BMW Group Thailand and Sport Bicycle are joining up to launch the inaugural “BMW First Life First Race” at the new Chang Super GT9 circuit in Buri Ram in celebration of His Majesty the King’s birthday on December 5.
“Sport Bicycle is committed to promoting the health of Thais through biking. We have been successful in hosting bike racing events nationwide and our events have received international acclaim, especially the Hua Hin Triathlon, which organised for the last three years,” says the company’s managing director Tharistree Chulakadubba.
“We are confident that this new event will attract many bikers while simultaneously boosting tourism in Buri Ram province. We are expecting 1,000 participants. The Chang International Circuit can welcome up to 2,000 spectators.”
“BMW brands are synonymous with speed and performance and we are pleased to see that Thais are becoming increasingly concerned about physical performance,” adds Cesar Badilla, after-sales director of BMW Group Thailand.
“We at BMW Group Thailand have a commitment to sustainability in every product we build and every activity we plan. This commitment has been recognised internationally by our nomination as the world’s most sustainable automobile manufacturer by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. It is also reflected in our decision to manufacture some of the world’s finest bicycles, as well as to sponsor the BMW First Life First Race. BMW is a provider of individual transport solutions, and as energy prices continue to rise and environmental awareness grows, we envision a steady growth of bicycles and cycling roads all around Thailand and especially in the big cities.”
Cyclists from around the country are invited to join this competition to win prizes including honorary trophies and to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 87th birthday.
The race, which is being held next Friday, is divided into two categories – a 70-km race and nine rounds of Super GT racing for mountain bikes for men and women, and road bikes for men and women. The Chang International Circuit features 12 curves, one of which is particularly tricky.
