Boycotts rein in runaway corporations

The online hullabaloo that culminated in Thai consumers countrywide joining hands to boycott a big retail chain should serve as a reminder for big businesses to start acting in a more humane and considerate manner.

Whether or not the boycott succeeds doesn’t matter. What matters is that boycotts teach unethical companies that, if they cross the line into antisocial business practice, people will rise up against them.
A good company should be driven by ethical considerations and the live-and-let-live school of thought – not by greed alone.
