If police aren't reformed now, they will never be

We may get two more years of this unelected government, but for what? The prime minister recently commented that reform of the police force is "too difficult" and might be left to the next government.

This means that the police force, as soon as it is free of the military, will likely again become a political tool to do the dirty work of the incoming politicians. It will be a return to “business as usual”.

Without a reformed police force to enforce the law fairly and even-handedly, new constitutions are worthless, new laws are worthless, and the 2014 coup will have been in vain. If the present military government, with all the powers at its disposal, including Clause 44, cannot implement this most crucial reform, it will never happen. If we are really going to get two more years of this government so that reforms can be made before the next election, please can we have police reform at the top of the list?
