PM should rein in his rash manner

Re: "A crude response to the horrors in Paris", Editorial, November 17.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha did the right thing in sending condolences to the government and the people of France following Friday’s terror attacks in Paris.
However, for the PM to use the attacks as a pretext to issue a warning to the Thai media and citizens not to step out of line was simply taking things too far.
The situations in Paris and in Bangkok are neither related nor even similar and thus do not warrant the comparison that Prayut made.
In March the prime minister made international headlines by declaring he would “probably execute” journalists who did not report the “truth”. He said later it was a joke, but the declaration still placed the PM in a negative light on the world stage.
I would suggest that the time has come for Prayut to rein in his rash manner.
