I am surprised that Robin Grant thinks you have to go back in history to find examples of how non-Muslims once lived peacefully in Muslim countries. Has he ever been to Penang?
What I always like about that place is the way people of different religions and ethnic backgrounds live together in peace and harmony, although Penang is in Malaysia, a predominantly Muslim country. In fact, while Muslims are getting beaten up in America, non-Muslims in Penang are free to walk the streets and openly practise their faith without fear of retribution.
