The court hearing earlier left the election hanging by a thread, albeit temporarily, after Tawatchai Sajjakul and Pol LtColonel Chaisap Tharat Rittem, two of the six candidate, and Mukdahan Nakarach FC filed separate cases to appeal for an injunction.
The ruling by the Central Administrative Court paved the way for the FA poll to take place at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium today.
Worawi was made ineligible to stand for reelection due to his extended Fifa suspension last month.
Nevertheless, Narinpong Jinaphak, the FA lawyer, who also attended the hearing, suggested that there would be a move to oppose the holding of the election before representatives of 72 member clubs head to the ballot box to cast their vote should the vote be allowed to go ahead.
“If the court does not issue an injunction, I’m confident there will be a movement against the conducting of the vote. Some of them see that the NC [normalisation committee appointed by Fifa to oversee the election] has acted against the rules.
“There may be an appeal, especially by Regional League clubs, to the Sports Authority of Thailand, who still need to approve the outcome of the election, asking why they allowed the poll to take place even though it is conducted against the FA rules,” he said.
