Syria: The unpalatable and ignored truth

Re: “Vested interests aggravating Syrian conflict”, Editorial, May 1.

Your latest editorial perfectly exemplifies your overall international coverage: regurgitate whatever propaganda is passed off as international news in syndicated Western media.
The Internet, on the other hand, is brim-full of evidence that the entire Syrian conflict is but the latest attempt at “regime change” gone wrong. One can find excellent examples of investigative journalism by New Yorker stalwart Seymour Hersh, who exposed that chemical attacks widely blamed on Assad were most likely the work of the opposition in a bid to drag the US into a war. Or his recent article on dissent within a US military command that refused to toe the government line on Syria and secretly collaborated with Russians.
The existence of a “moderate opposition” itself is also widely questioned, since most of the time these people happily fight alongside various Islamist groups. When they are summoned to Western capitals they only posture for money and power. The support of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and others for Islamists including ISIS and the local branch of al-Qaeda, on the other hand, is underreported as if they were not vested interests at all.
And then every month or so you’ll write another editorial complaining about the fate of print journalism. Well, don’t print rubbish, and then people might start reading the newspaper again.
