Small details in preparation could make a difference at the world’s biggest sporting event and Charoen Pokphand Group (CP) has stepped in to ensure that Thai athletes can focus on the job at hand rather than concerns over what to eat.
“Charoen Pokphand Group is pleased to be part of the support for Thai athletes in the 2016 Olympics. We’re honoured that the OCT [Olympic Committee of Thailand] and SAT [Sports Authority of Thailand] entrusted us to provide food for our participating athletes at the Games,” said CP’s Vittavat Tantivess as he revealed the Olympic menu at the press conference yesterday. “We have carefully picked 11 ready-to-eat dishes, including spicy stir-fried pasta with Kurobuta pork steak, shrimp wonton with tom yum soup and grilled chicken with Northeastern-style dip served with steamed rice – brown and jasmine.
“The well-selected dishes will offer good nutrition and energy for athletes at Thai House [in Rio]. We’ve received strong support from the Thai embassy in Brazil to make our service at Thai House possible. “The Thai athletes can be assured they will be consuming clean and quality food that satisfies their palates. It should help them prepare physically and mentally to compete for the country and bring medals home.”
True Corporation, meanwhile, will provide free international roaming sim cards for all Thai athletes, coaches, team officials and media heading for the Games in Brazil from August 5 -21.
“We’re proud to offer communication devices for the athletes under the ‘One million cheers, Through the One million hearts, Cheer Thais together’ campaign,” said True’s Papon Ratanachaikanont. True will also be relaying messages of support from Thai fans to the athletes.
“Customers travelling to Brazil during the Games will get up to 30 per cent discount [from us],” Papon added. “Being a supporter, we hope Thai athletes can return home with glory.”
