It seems as though JC Wilcox’s judgement has been undermined by his euphoria and triumphalism at the election victory of Donald Trump, and I am sure I am not the only reader who experiences a sense of unease and distaste at what appears to be an attempt by Wilcox to equate Donald Trump's perceived leadership qualities with those of His Majesty, the late King Bhumipol Adulyadej.
Trump has of course been elected in a free and fair democratic process, but he is a serial and shameless liar, and has repeatedly used language of the most offensive kind to demean women, racial and religious groups and the disabled. The late King never, ever resorted to such behaviour – he treated all his subjects with equal respect and consideration, and set an example of national leadership which Donald Trump cannot hope to emulate.
