Remembering our Royal father

Remembering our Royal father

Messages detailing how members of the public will carry on the work on the late monarch go on show at Parc Paragon

A few weeks ago, not long after His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s passing, The Pride of Thailand and Siam Piwat invited his loyal subjects to write a message on specially designed circular cards describing how they would follow in the late Monarch’s footsteps. Those notes of remembrance are now decorating a gigantic tree, measuring 15 metres in width and covered in lights to symbolise His Majesty’s grace at Parc Paragon.
Running through January 8, the “Resplendent Grace of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej” also features paintings on the theme “The Pride of Thailand: Fill Our Nation with Pride” by student volunteers from Silpakorn University, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin, Poh Chang Academy of Arts, and Bunditpatanasilpa Institute, as well as mini-concerts.
ML Panadda Diskul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office and chairman of The Pride of Thailand, said: “As Thais, we have a responsibility to do our best to protect the nation and to steadfastly move on. We are blessed to have been born Thai in the kingdom of Thailand under the protection of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the King who never ever neglected his subjects. His Majesty visited every inch of his country, devoting himself to finding ways to eliminate misery and bring happiness to his subjects.
The stories from the cards will be recorded in a digital archive.
Dr SuwitYodmanee, vice-president and secretary-general to The National Identity Foundation, added: “The foundation emphasises showing respect for the monarchy. His Majesty was very generous and adhered to the 10 Royal virtues. Our aim is to promote and encourage the young generation to learn about His Majesty’s example for self-development as well as social and national improvement.”
The paintings have been inspired by His Majesty’s various abilities. They are categorised into the Artisan King by Silpakorn University, the Agriculturalist King presented by Bunditpatanasilpa Institute, the Artist King presented by King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, and the Musician King presented by Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin, Poh Chang Academy of Arts.
