Since making a comeback to the music scene after an eight-year hiatus, Labanoon – one of the most popular bands of the 1990s – has continued to delight fans. Their hit song “Chueak Wiset” earned more than 370 million views on YouTube, and “Pae Thang” and “Palang Ngarn Jon” featuring luk thung singer Paowalee Pornpimon were not far behind, with 270 million and 160 million views respectively.
Now the pop trio is taking to the stage for a full-scale concert titled “Perd Klong” at the Indoor Stadium in Hua Mark on May 13. Unsurprisingly, 70 per cent of the tickets have already been snapped up.
“I think that Labanoon is like other band. We all dream of doing a once-in-a-lifetime concert. I never thought our dream would come true so when I was asked whether Labanoon wanted to have a big concert. I didn’t hesitate to say yes,” says singer and guitarist Metee Arun.
“We are all working extremely hard to prepare for the concert and have already amassed more than 80 songs. We’ll be performing our hits as well as other songs that mean a lot to us. We’ve chosen the name ‘Perd Klong’ (‘Open the Box’). Labanoon in Arab means milk. If you want to drink milk from a box, then you must open it. We would like everybody to come and enjoy the sweet taste. I would like this concert to be like a homecoming party for our loyal fans.”
Metee, along with bassist Anan Saman and drummer Nathanon Thongoon, confirms that Labanoon will be playing the trio’s forever hits “Yam”, “191”, “Nak Jai” and “Fan Kao”.
