History on the small screen

Several months have passed since the True4U channel 24 acquired the rights to the novel “Ruan Mayura” and brought veteran director ML Bandevanop “Mom Noi” Devakul on board to turn it into a series.

The leading actors – Davika Hoorne and Ananda Everingham – had even been chosen to star in this well-known story about a woman locked in a timeless house by her father to protect her from war.
Despite the work done on the script, True4U recently decided to cancel “Ruan Mayura” and will instead be focusing its effort on a new series called “Sri Ayothaya”.
The story is based on historical fact and is set in Ayutthaya prior to 1767, when it was razed to the ground by the Burmese army. It will cover the insurgency in the kingdom, its loss to Burma, Phraya Tak’s reunification efforts and the establishment of Thon Buri as the new capital.
The cast includes such big nanes as Sornram Thepitak as Phraya Tak, Pakorn Lum, Ananda Everingham, Teerapat Satchaku, Peter Nopachai Jayanama, Worranuch Bhirombhakdi, Khemanit Jamkorn, who replaces Davika, and Sinjai Plengpanich.
Mom Noi hopes that the epic series will be as well crafted as his previous series “See Phandin” which was made 14 years ago.
The director, who developed the script himself, says the project will mark the 90th birthday of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej on December 5 this year.
